A-Frame Club is one of the most unique wedding venues in Winter Park, Colorado. It blends modern alpine design with a true destination-style weekend for you and your guests.

A Photographer’s Guide to Planning a Wedding at A-Frame Club

As a Colorado mountain wedding photographer who has fallen in love with celebrating weddings here, I’ve designed this guide to give you both practical planning details and real-life insight into what it’s actually like to host your wedding at A-Frame Club.

Wedding Venue Overview

A-Frame Club is a 2-acre, design-forward mountain property located in Old Town Winter Park, nestled between the Fraser River and Winter Park Resort. The venue includes 31 A-frame cabins, an original saloon and restaurant, a riverside event lawn, and multiple gathering spaces that allow couples and guests to truly unplug and experience the Colorado mountains.

Why Couples Love Getting Married at A-Frame Club

On-Site Guest Accommodations

One of the biggest advantages of an A-Frame Club wedding is that all guests can stay on site. This transforms the wedding into a shared experience, allowing for slow mornings together, relaxed transitions throughout the day, and meaningful time spent with the people you love most. On-site lodging also creates space for a calmer timeline and more natural moments.

Wedding Venue in Winter Park

A-Frame Club’s proximity to Winter Park Resort makes it easy to turn the wedding into a full weekend experience. In the summer, guests can spend their time hiking alpine trails, mountain biking, or riding the gondola for scenic mountain views. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding at Winter Park Resort add an entirely different but equally memorable layer to the celebration, making this venue a strong option for both summer and winter couples.

The location also gives you the option for mountain-top couples portraits and private vows with a view on your wedding day

Architecture and Design

The architecture of A-Frame Club is one of its most defining features. The bold A-frame structure, expansive windows, and cozy wood interiors create a space that feels modern, intentional, and welcoming.

The cabins themselves are organized in pods that zig zag along a wooden bridge together. Walking through them makes you feel immediately immersed in the space, offering both privacy and intimacy.

Within the cabins, you’ll find special touches like a soaking tub, kitchenette, plush robes and slippers, custom Malm fireplaces and locally designed furniture. The cabins also include back decks to sip your morning coffee as you enjoy views of the surrounding mountain peaks. They decks face each other circling an outdoor fire pit that invites natural connection between your wedding guests. With a full buyout, you also have access to the event lawn which can be used for a ceremony or yard games.

The design of these cabins photographs beautifully, offering consistent natural light, clean lines and unique composition opportunities.

The venue atmosphere mimics a French après setting. It’s complete with vintage ski artwork and a modern saloon restaurant that serves French-alpine inspired cuisine. The bar itself adds historic charm, dating back to the 1800’s. Undeniably, it’s the perfect European mountain chalet getaway.

Dog Friendly Wedding Venue in Colorado

Another detail couples love is that A-Frame Club is a dog friendly wedding venue. With your own private cabin on-site, it’s an easy place for your pup to hang out during the day. You can grab them when you want them included in the fun, or relax, knowing they’re only steps away.

A Colorful Mountain Wedding at A-Frame Club

Mackenzie and Michael celebrated their A-Frame Club wedding during peak wildflower season in July. Their wedding day was intimate, deeply intentional, and placed a huge priority on quality time together.

The Vibe of the Day

The day was filled with vibrant wildflower-inspired florals and lush summer greens of the surrounding mountain landscape. Rather than having a formal wedding party, the couple opted for “VIP guests,” a casual take on tradition. Mackenzie simply invited her girls to get ready at their own pace and encouraged them to wear brightly colored or floral dresses of their choosing. They popped in and out of her cabin throughout the morning and regrouped together for Mackenzie’s grand reveal of her dress. This resulted in a stress-free morning while still honoring some of the bride’s most deeply rooted friendships.

Private Vows on top of Winter Park Resort

Although A-Frame Club is surrounded by mountains, to get the very best views, Mackenzie and Michael chose to take the gondola up to the top of Winter Park Resort for a first look and private vows. This was a meaningful way to slow the day down, create space for emotion without an audience, and capture expansive mountain views alongside genuine interactions. After their vows, the couple joined their guests at St. Bernard’s church for a traditional ceremony.

Cocktails on the Patio

Upon returning back to the venue, a live string quartet greeted guests as they enjoyed cocktails on the outdoor patio. Having a smaller guest count allowed the couple to share meaningful conversations and sneak away for a few photos with their VIP guests.

Then everyone made their way inside for toasts and a candlelit dinner. One of my favorite design details of the indoor space is the sky light and hanging vines. Although the space is small, the natural light opens it up, making you feel as if you’re still outdoors.

Sunset Photos and Party Transition

Because the dinner area doubles as the dance floor, after guests finish eating, everyone is typically asked to step outside while the venue staff transitions the room. Conveniently, this creates the perfect gap of time for a few sunset photos with the newly-weds.

To kick off the party, a live band took the stage, and the room immediately became energized with excitement. As a nod to ski culture, guests were invited to take part in “shot-skis,” while the bartenders ensured no one was left with an empty drink. Party sunglasses emerged, conga-lines formed, and glow sticks filled the dance floor with color. A smaller space inevitably feels more full, and this dance floor was teeming with life. Even those who weren’t busting a move could still be a part of the atmosphere by relaxing in the nearby booths to watch the fun unfold. Having the bar area separated from the dance floor also created room for conversation in between, creating the perfect joy-filled wedding day.
