Spring Wedding at Vail Golf Club: Avery & Brett

Couple walks through aspen grove together at Vail Golf and Nordic Center wedding

Avery and Brett’s spring wedding at the Vail Golf Club was pure, contagious energy from beginning to end.

The bridesmaids danced down the streets of Vail Village. Hank the dog proudly escorted Brett down the aisle. A live saxophone created an unforgettable grand entrance. A champagne tower pulled guests to their feet. Later in the evening, matching sweatsuits made a surprise re-entrance that sent 140 people into a roar. This couple knew exactly the kind of celebration they wanted, and every decision protected one thing: pure joy.

If you are considering a spring or early summer wedding at Vail Golf Club, this real example will help you understand how the landscape behaves, what the venue looks like in late May, and how to build a timeline that keeps the party moving without feeling rushed.

What Late May Looks Like at Vail Golf Club

Late May in Vail is a transition period, and the landscape can change quickly from week to week.

For Avery and Brett’s wedding, the valley had just tipped into green. Aspen leaves were fresh and bright, the grass had returned, and the valley was in full efflorescence, painting the landscape in vibrant shades of pink and white. Meanwhile snow still lined the upper elevations of the Gore Range, creating depth in photos, vibrant at ground level with dramatic alpine texture above.

Spring carries a sense of movement. Streams run high, temperatures are comfortable, and daylight lingers long into the evening.

That extended light is one of the biggest advantages of this time of year. We moved through cocktail hour and dinner without pressure, knowing the sun wouldn’t set until almost 8:30 PM. From a photo perspective this meant having more of Vail’s iconic Gore Range backdrop longer into the reception.

If you are planning a wedding at this time, know that conditions vary year to year. Some years the aspens bloom early, others take their time. While Avery and Brett lucked out with a colorful wedding day, that’s not guaranteed. Building flexibility into your plan ensures the day feels intentional no matter what the mountains decide to do.

Getting Ready at The Hythe

The couple got ready at The Hythe in Lionshead Village, where they had rented a massive top-floor suite with panoramic mountain views. The hotel featured oversized windows and more natural light than most venues could ever provide ,which is why it is one of my favorite getting-ready environments in the valley.

Inside, everyone had space to spread out. Hair and makeup flowed easily. Details looked elevated without effort, and Hank (the dog) was able to freely roam. The bridemaids cheered with champagne, and Avery stepped into her custom designed wedding dress, truly one of a kind.

Choosing The Hythe is a notable investment, but it is also one of the easiest ways to upgrade the entire feel of your day.

Wedding Party Photos in Vail Village and Lionshead

Before heading to the ceremony, we stopped in Vail Village for bridesmaids photos. Vail is a popular tourist destination which meant we had to share the streets with a crowd of pedestrians. To ease the nerves of being the center of attention, the girls brought a big speaker and danced their way through the village. This not only created fun photos, but made the entire moment a memorable experience.

Meanwhile my second photographer captured early morning moments of Brett getting ready with his groomsmen. They started in the luxury space of the hotel lobby and then made their way through Lionshead Village. The clear separation between the two different villages in Vail made it easy to take photos in each location simultaneously without worry of running into the other party. It’s the variety and versatility that makes Vail so great.

A Spring Vail Golf Club Wedding Ceremony

Avery and Brett decided not to do a first look, and instead saved the full reveal for the aisle. Once guests were fully seated, they headed to the Wedding Island. Before starting the ceremony, Avery shared a private first look with her father as they prepared to walk down the aisle together.

Moments like this are powerful because they slow the day down emotionally. With thoughtful planning, you can create intimacy without sacrificing momentum.

Then the music started, and the tone shifted the moment Brett appeared with Hank proudly at his side. There were instant smiles everywhere and immediate connection. When Avery and her dad crossed the bridge into sight, tears immediately welled up in Brett’s eyes. As she made her way down the aisle, her dress sparkled in the bright sunlight, and every guest was magnetized to her. It was the kind of moment indescribable for words because it was so full of emotion.

Vail Wedding Chapel Ceremony

Avery and Brett formally got married in the Vail Chapel a few days earlier to honor their religious beliefs. While they were already legally married, the proclamation of love in front of the larger group of family and friends felt just as special.

Wedding Couple’s Photos on Ceremony Island and in the Aspen Grove

To celebrate their “I do’s,” we stuck around after the ceremony for extended family photos and couples portraits. The ceremony island space features the dramatic Gore Range in one direction as well as a reflective pond and bright aspen trees next to the iconic bridge in the other. This particular wedding day was partly cloudy meaning the sunshine frequently appeared and then disappeared throughout the day. The duality of the Wedding Island photo backdrops allowed us to strategically shift between locations based on the clouds to ensure the best lighting in each direction.

On the way back to the venue, we would have been remise to drive past the aspen grove without stopping. The vibrant light green aspen leaves are only found in the first few weeks of spring, and the afternoon sunlight made them dance with life. This setting is one of the biggest benefits of having a wedding this time of year.

A Gore Range Room Reception and Saxophone Grand Entrance

After cocktail hour on the patio, guests gathered inside the Gore Range Room. It was elegantly decorated with whimsical blue and white flowers and a white checkered dance floor. Their florist capitalized on the tall ceilings with hanging floral installs that helped make a big space feel cozy. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a thoughtful selection of sweets, complete with custom macaroons with their engagement photos on them. This was another example of planning their wedding in a way that honored intention over tradition.

Then the doors opened, and to everyone’s delighted surprise, a live saxophonist filled the space. Avery and Brett burst into the room, and instantly, everyone was on their feet. If couples ever ask where live music has the most impact, this is my answer. Right at the entrance. Set the tone early and the energy carries itself for the rest of the night.

Reception and Dancing

After dinner, Avery and Brett kicked off the evening with toasts from friends and family, a champagne tower in the center of the dance floor, and the reopening of “Hank’s Bar.” This was followed by a non-stop party the rest of the night. There were glow sticks, conga lines, custom hats, and not a dull moment for even a second.

Later in the evening, Avery and Brett snuck outside to a colorful sky and warm alpenglow on the summit peaks. It was the perfect moment to pause, take a deep breath, and truly appreciate the day.

After the sun set, they changed into matching sweatsuits, and re-entered to absolute chaos in the best way. Avery surprised Brett with a T-Shirt underneath featuring baby photos of her new husband, and the crowd cheered with excitement.

Guests drifted between patio conversations and packed dance floor moments. Energy stayed high right up until the final shuttle departures. Just like that, the day was over in the blink of an eye, but the memories would resonate for years to come.

Why This Spring Wedding at Vail Golf Club Worked So Well

Avery and Brett invested in experiences over aesthetics.

A dog in the processional.
Surprise live music that set the tone
A champagne tower that sifted the energy and built excitement
A surprise wardrobe change that reignited the party.

They also embraced late spring for what it offers: longer evenings, colorful spring blossoms, and a relaxed schedule.

And they chose a getting-ready space that set the tone from the moment the day began.
